Grant MacEwan PREL 240 Class

Thank you so much to the PREL 240 class at Grant MacEwan for their extremely well put together Integrated Marketing Plans that they created for the Winnifred Stewart Association and more specifically, the Empties to WINN program. We very much look forward to reviewing the plans and recommendations that were provided and, hopefully, implementing some of the ideas and strategies!

It was a pleasure working with the PREL 240 class! Thank you for all of your hard work and your amazing presentations!

New Van for WSA!

2017 Dodge Caravan side view.jpg

On July 21st, WSA purchased a new Dodge Caravan thanks to a grant provided by the Edmonton Community Foundation.

The purchase of this new vehicle that is dependable, fuel efficient and accommodates mobility issues allows the individuals we support to continue to access their communities in a meaningful way, and enables them to travel outside of the City of Edmonton to experience opportunities that will enrich their lives.

Through the summer, individuals in our residential services program had the opportunity to vacation at Camp L.G. Barnes, situated on the southwestern shores of Gull Lake near Bentley, Alberta. L.G. Barnes is a year-round lakeside facility that provides visitors with a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities.

Participants of our Day Services program have also been able to experience fun new opportunities like remote controlled air flying at Bremner Flying Field and Halloween laser tag since the purchase of the van, all thanks to the grant provided by the Edmonton Community Foundation.

The Edmonton Community Foundation has been supporting Winnifred Stewart Association for nearly 20 years with the first grant awarded in 1999. Today, The Edmonton Community Foundation has provided WSA with nearly $90,000 in support through various grants. We are proud to call the Edmonton Community Foundation our partner!

Parker Stewart House Receives New Roof, thanks to Alberta Seniors and Housing!

Our Parker Stewart House residence received a new roof this spring thanks to a grant provided by Alberta Seniors and Housing.

The grant provided through Alberta Social Housing Corporation aims to ensure that vulnerable Albertans continue to have access to well-maintained affordable housing.

Thanks to the support of Alberta Seniors and Housing, we were able to replace the roof at Parker Stewart House, valued at nearly $17,000.

We are so grateful for the support shown by our community and Province which allows us to continue to provide residences that the people we support are proud to call home.

Thank you Alberta Seniors and Housing and the Alberta Social Housing Corporation for your generous support!

Ron's Unforgettable Experience

Ron McLean is usually the guy going from office to office on Monday morning asking each staff how their weekend was, but not today... Today, Ron is the center of attention, with everybody commenting on his big appearance on the Global evening news. Ron takes so much pride in riding his scooter every weekend, and we couldn't be happier that Global took to the opportunity to showcase Ron's hobby.

We are so happy for you Ron!

Winnifred Stewart Park Grand Re-Opening

On Saturday, August 20th, 2016 we celebrated the completion of the revitalization of Winnifred Stewart Park with over 200 guests in attendance. It was a day filled with delicious food, face painting, balloon animals, friends and beautiful weather. Thank you to Councillor Bev Esslinger, City of Edmonton, Edmonton Police Services, the Office of Honorable Sarah Hoffman, and ATCO for your support of this event. We would also like to thank Mr. Lyndon Aginas for the blessing and song, as well as Lakota and Lorensia Tootoosis for preforming the opening dances.
