Employment Services

Day Services offers community-based employment training and support for individuals who have demonstrated the potential to work independently in the community. Service delivery focuses on providing the opportunity to develop and increase an individual's skills and competencies in community employment settings. Clients are assisted to establish training goals that have a relationship to achieving and maintaining employment or alternatives to employment with a focus on community participation.

Job Developers assist in accessing competitive employment and educating and supporting the employer. The employment options are diverse and allows the opportunity for choice. Emphasis is placed on assisting individuals in acquiring the necessary work skills to become successful at the actual job site. Prior to achieving paid employment (either competitively or with support) the individual may participate in career awareness and exploration activities, which consist of a variety of instructional modules, work experience and volunteer placements.

The employment preparation component of the program provides work skills, work ethics and social skills training in a facility-based setting. Contract work is procured from the business community to offer a variety of work resulting in diversified training that best meets the needs of the individual.  The focus is on establishing job interests, career planning and exploration, and skills acquisition. Emphasis is placed on assisting, encouraging and supporting each individual in the realization of his or her own personal strengths and abilities.
