The Winnifred Stewart Association provides services to individuals with developmental disabilities who are eligible for funding from the Persons with Developmental Disabilities Board- Edmonton Region (PDD).
The following three criteria are used to make the determination of developmental disability for PDD program and funding purposes:
-
significantly below average intellectual capacity;
-
onset prior to age 18; and
-
related limitations in two or more of the following adaptive skills areas: - communication, leisure - home living, work - community use, self-care - health and safety, self-direction - functional academics, social skills
All requests for service from the Association are directed through the Program Managers. Once the applicant has completed an application for service, additional documentation may be requested to confirm eligibility. An Individualized Service Plan or a Personal Profile is required for all applicants requesting service. The document provides a background of the individual's life experiences as well as an overview of their current support requirements.
The Program Manager reviews all applications to determine if the requested service is able to meet the applicant's needs. All applicants will be informed of the Manager's decision. If there are no vacancies in the requested program, the applicant's name may be placed on a waiting list.
